Thursday November 15, students and staff had the opportunity to participate in a Mi’kmaq Sweat, lead by Elder Malian Ward with the help of the Fire Keeper Burton Ward.
Malian & Burton invited the grades 5 & 6 students to their Sweat Lodge, where we had four rounds of the sweat. Each round dedicated to one of the sacred directions, and the spirits and elements of that direction are honoured in prayer by the Malian. Each participant was offered a chance to pray or speak.
Thank you Malian for sharing this important piece of Mi’kmaq culture, where we gave thanks to the Creator and asked our spirit elders for guidance.
Wela'lin!
