Today is the 93rd day of school.  There are only 7 school days left until the 100th day celebration.  We will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Thursday, March 3rd.

This week we are learning that vowels can say there own name.  After signaling the vowel sound, you point to yourself with your thumb to indicate that the vowel says its own name.  Have your child act out the sight words this week using the Zoo Phonics signals we have learned this year.

This is a homework-free week for Student Appreciation Week.  In addition to there being no homework this week, each day has a fun activity.  The following is this week's calendar: Monday- Wear Red and/or White day!  Valentine's Party in the afternoon! Tuesday- Literacy Day!  Come to school dressed as your favorite character from a book.  There will be visitors that will be reading to the students. Wednesday- Pajama and Pizza Day!  Come to school in your favorite pajamas.  Students will have pizza for lunch. Thursday- Crazy Hat Day!  Wear your craziest hat to school Friday- Bowling!  We will be going bowling in the morning.

We have begun to learn about the planets in our solar system.  This is a collaborative project with 2 other schools.  We are working with Miss Murphy's class at Rexton Elementary and Miss MacDonald's class at Tabusintac School.  Each class is learning about three of the planets in the solar system.  We will then share our research with the other classes.  Our class is learning about Mars, Pluto and Earth.  The K5 students completed the research and report on Mars.  We learned a lot of interesting facts about Mars.  We are starting to learn about Pluto this week.
