Luskinikn (pronounced loo-skin-i-gen) is a wonderful no yeast, quick bread. It contains basic elements such as, flour, baking powder, salt, water. Some people add lard or oil, some add milk, some add raisins, some add oatmeal. Personalizing your recipe is what makes it as unique as you. Some like butter or jam, other like to dip it in molasses. There are many, many ways to enjoy this timeless bread.
Metepenagiag students from grades 3-6 are working with artist Francine Francis. Francine will be working with our students for the next couple months on a Seven Sacred Teachings art piece!
Elder George Paul has been working with students from grades 3 to 6, furthering their knowledge and developing skills in Drumming. Students will continue to learn from George until the end of the school year.
Grade 5 & 6 are working with Mr Rick Hayward in the I³ Program (Investigate! Invent! Innovate!). I³ challenges students to identify a problem and invent a solution.
Students will develop an entrepreneurial mindset by researching a problem, building a prototype, and developing a business plan and marketing strategies to promote their invention.
The grade 6 students at Metepenagiag School worked with Elder Malian Ward for 10 weeks to build their understanding of 5210 through culturally relevant activities and cultural teachings.
Grades 5 to 7 students from Metepenagiag are working with Youth Mental Health Specialist, John Fletcher.
Students are doing Resilient Movements training. Resilient Movements merges Integrative Youth Development with functional fitness into an action packed eight-hour course. The goal is to teach youth real-life, tangible resilience skills. Through group discussions, experiential activities and functional fitness ALL youth will leave this course with the skills needed to THRIVE and grow their web of support.
